FAQ

How do you pronounce your name?
It sounds like this: Kreesha, with a soft a at the end. Krysia is a Polish name.

I'm stuck in writing my dissertation. What's happening?
There are a number of possibilities.
Your organizing structure may not be working. Revisit it using mind
mapping or outlining. If you like to talk about ideas, try explaining
your thinking in five minutes to a friend.
The block may be signalling that you need to reconsider your
arguments. Your original thesis statement may no longer express
your thinking or a supporting argument may not be valid.

What are some pitfalls to avoid in business writing?
Using jargon or specialized terminology that your intended
   audience doesn't understand
Losing readers in poorly organized material and convoluted
paragraphs packed with too many ideas
Forgetting to spell check e-mail messages. Errors detract from a
   professional image.

Any tips for a novice on saving money and time with a book?
If you're self publishing, have your manuscript edited before you
have it formatted or desktop published.
Don't heavily format a manuscript that you're sending to a
publisher. It can create problems for the designer.
Ask your editor about anything that confuses you because this is
your project and you have the final say.
Research publishers so you know what they want. Read

guidelines.Search on the Internet.
Take the project in stages if editing or writing is new to you. Get an
evaluation so you know what's needed and what's working. Then
you can decide on the changes you want to make and on what you
   want the editor to do.

I have an incredible story. Why aren't magazine editors or publishers interested?
There are a number of possibilities.
You might not have the slant that's right for the magazine or
    publisher.
You might be in the first draft stage. If you poured out your heart,
you've written primarily for yourself and those who know you,
which is fine. But, generally a work needs to be restructured, with
some incidents left out and explanations added, so others can
   follow your story.
If you're terrific at telling your story, but lose its life on paper, you
might want to adapt storytelling and literary techniques to keep it
   alive.

Do you edit fiction?
I leave fiction and poetry and indexes to others. Check this link. EAC online directory, http://www.paulgross.com/eac.

Do you do formatting?
I format straightforward documents in Word and leave more creative projects requiring a program like Quark or PageMaker to designers.
